Abstract
The paper presents a new interpretation of Archilochus' fragments 128 and 129 West. It argues that the two fragments were part of the same poem. The argument is based on a narrative pattern in both the fragments and the new interpretation of the meaning of the word ῥυσμός in v. 7 of fragment 128 West as "a hostile temper or disposition".
