Abstract

The objective of the research was to analyze the dynamics of changes in lipid peroxidation (LPO) and antioxidant defense (AOD) parameters in children with pyelonephritis (PN) undergoing basic therapy (BT) with systemic multienzyme and multivitamin preparation depending on the signs of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD). Materials and methods. The study in-cluded 160 children with PN at the age of 3-15 years: there were 80 children with the signs of UCTD and 80 children without UCTD manifestations. The control group included 20 apparently healthy individuals. Systemic multienzyme and multivitamin preparation were added to treatment to potentiate effective BT. Results. BT was found to insufficiently affect LPO and AOD parameters in children with PN of both groups (p>0.05). The use of complex vitamin preparation led to the decrease in LPO (p<0.05) and the increase in AOD (p<0.01) which were more significant in patients with PN without UCTD manifestations. The maximum treatment effect was reached in patients treated with BT and multivitamin preparation and those treated with BT, multivitamin preparation and systemic multi-enzyme irrespective of the presence of UCTD. In patients receiving the combination of multivitamin preparation and systemic multienzyme, the indicator of ceruloplasmin was found to be closer to normal values.
