OPTIMIZATION OF THE STUDENTS’ SELF-WORK IN HIGH MEDICAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Abstract
The reform of high education leads to the reorganization of training plans for the preparing of young professionals for all sectors of the national economy, including medicine, which is being reformed too. The change of the form of training into individually differentiated with the restriction of 50-70% of the academic time for independent extra-curriculum work of students requires high education institutions and teaching staff to optimize methodological materials and auxiliary advisory work for students, presented in this article. With proper organization on the part of the department teaching staff, independent work of students, becoming the main form of training, provides a complete mastering of the discipline promotes the development of clinical thinking and has an educational value. Students' independent work changes them during their studying period at the university from passive knowledge consumers to active creators who can formulate the problem and find the ways to solve it. Independent out-of-class work of students is defined by a typical and working curriculum for each discipline with compulsory students' knowledge and the teacher in assessing the final level of knowledge supervises skills acquiring that. A carefully chosen in the work program choice of themes, that require certain learning, deep understanding, integration with complementary disciplines, helps the student to get the theoretical knowledge with the help of created specifically for the theme and posted on the university website methodological materials, multimedia demonstrations, additionally recommended literature, online resources, and the night urgent duties with the teacher in the reception department, independent work at the training center give the opportunity to polish their practical skills. An important moment in independent students' work on the surgery departments is the cure of patients and writing their illness history, when students learn to independently examine patients, formulate and substantiate the clinical diagnosis, carry out a diagnostic search, prescribe medicines and choose the definite method of surgical treatment, develop a complex of preventive methods. Students' independent work cannot be considered separately from the one with the teacher, its quality is higher with the advisory and individual work of the department teaching staff. Teachers' consultations are especially effective on a certain day personally or on-line. In self-education in general and in specific topic learning, in particular, problem lectures are of great importance. They can be lectured by leading university scientists, with elements of motivation, achievements of the advanced scientists of the world, which is a stimulating factor for the organization of independent students' work. The motivators for students' independent work intensifying are disputes, scientific thematic conferences, and the best specialist or student contests. Having studied individual independent work on certain subjects of discipline, the young doctor will constantly work to increase his professional level, will be able to make decisions on his own, will adapt to changes in diagnostic and therapeutic complexes and will adjust his professional activities.
