The spiritual odes of M.V. Lomonosov detects opposed emotive meanings, which differ in contents and functions. The idea of light associated with God's light actualizes the emotional components of joy and spiritual satisfaction in the ode “Morning Reflection on the Majesty of God”. The idea of a night of endless alien abyss lies at the heart of creating an emotional tone of confusion and anxiety in the ode “Evening Reflections, on The Majesty of God, on Seeing the Great Northern Lights”.
