Abstract
Lean manufacturing is the major weapon for the future industrial growth. The main objective of this project is to improve the productivity of the production line, by identifying the value added activities and eliminating the non-value-added activities through time study. Value stream mapping is used to map the current state and future state after implementing the improvement. Assembly line balancing is also done using software to minimize of the number of workstations and maximization of the production rate. Study and implementation of the total productive maintenance program is done on Jishuhozen activity. After implementation of total productive maintenance, both direct and indirect benefits are shown to be obtained for equipment and employees respectively. From the results it was found that the overall lead time of the manufacturing process has been reduced from 38.6 to 33.8 hours.
