Purpose- The usage of social media resources has been increased in the last 10-15 years. The communities and governments are also concerned about the sustainable business practices. The usage of social media tools can help in sustainable development. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the usage of social media tools in sustainable development. Design/Methodology- Systematic literature review technique has been adopted. Though there is very less literature available on the topic of social media and sustainability but the authors have time limitation for primary research. Findings- The main findings of the research is that social media tools help in achieving the goals of sustainability through various dimensions. Social media tools help in sustainable marketing, advertising, promotion and establish two-way communication with the customers. Students in higher education can increase the usage of social media tools and also encourage others to use technology to replace paper. Implications- This paper will be a motivating force to increase awareness about the usage of technology among communities, customers, students and organizations. This paper will enhance the knowledge of manager about usage of social media tools and there linkage with sustainability.
