Abstract
This paper examines the research on the effect of imperfect symbol synchronization (ISS) on performance of phase shift keying (PSK) receiver which is used in digital satellite communication. The mathematical analysis of ISS on PSK receiver structure which are Squaring loss, s-curve, carrier phase error, phase detector gains, (Automatic gain control) AGC's behaviour and symbol rate, are presented. In this paper, we look into imperfect synchronization and analyze the exact effects on performance of PSK receiver by using MATLAB /Simulink and Xilinx system generator. These effects of ISS prove that there is degradation on the performance of PSK receiver which can be used for digital satellite communication (Satcom).
