EFFECT OF TQM PRACTICES IN LARGE AND SMALL MEDIUM ELECTRONIC COMPANIES IN TAMIL NADU

TQM practices are considered as the backbone of profitable organisation. The TQM practices take any organisation to the world arena. It is also necessary for the companies to adopt TQM practices in their operations and strategies to run the competitive world wide race. Electronic companies in Tamil Nadu, one among the major source of income generating and employment guaranteed sector need to improve its productivity and cut down cost to attain the world's number one exporter of electronic products. In this regard, the study is carried out with 75 electronic manufacturer companies in Tamil Nadu. The study is aimed at identifying the extent of usage of TQM practices in electronic industry. It further investigated whether there exists any relationship between large and SME's in using TQM practices and its perception. The results identified that six sigma and 5S stood in the top positions under usage of TQM practices. It also revealed that SPC and SQC are perceived at same level by both large cap and SME's.
