Abstract
Modern society makes high demands on a specialist with a higher engineering education. It is not enough that a graduate of a technical university mastered the training course successfully and learned to apply the knowledge gained in practice, it is also necessary that in the learning process he learn how to acquire knowledge independently, apply them in practice to solve emerging problems skillfully. For this purpose, there is a need to develop cognitive activity. The article presents the work experience of the teachers of the Branch of Tyumen Industrial University in Surgut, namely the methods of increasing the cognitive activity of engineering students in the classes "Physical Education".
