ENHANCEMENT OF RELIABILITY OF WORK CELL IN A METAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY: A CASE STUDY

Abstract
A work cell in a metal manufacturing company is not functioning up to its capacity. A reliability team is formed to determine the reason for frequently occurring downtime. The reliability team found out the root cause under the following four critical resources: Material, Equipment, Personnel, Scheduling. Also the reliability team collected the time data when a failure based on defined metrics occurred. The Reliability value of the work cell was calculated and a brain storming session was conducted to develop measures to eliminate identified failures.
