Abstract

Wind is regarded as the renewable energy sources that are produced due to the pressure variations on earth surface. At the present scenario, increasing use of fossil fuels for mass energy production leads to climatic changes in global level. The efficiency of the blade is determined by dimensions, placement, shape, type of air foil etc., The main aim is to compare the wind turbine power of three similar wind blades equipped with and without vortex generator thereby finding out the velocity of air at inlet and outlet by using Anemometer and calculated power coefficient. When the wind flow reaches the vane, kinetic energy is suppressed. On the other side of the vane, velocity is almost zero, so the low pressure is produced there. Current work is focused on obtaining smooth flow on the upper surface of the HAWT blade to reduce turbulence effect. Maximum lift and power generation is obtained by introducing vortex generator over blades. The wind blades are designed and fabricated using the aluminum material. The lift can be increased by placing VG on the separation point and hence the blade efficiency can be increased to a smaller extent. Modifying the angle, the wind turbine with vortex generator of power nearly 20% is increased as compared to the wind turbine without vortex generator.
