Abstract

Developing technology and technological tools affect our daily life directly or indirectly. Nowadays, technology is a determinant in many processes from our relations with our social environment to our purchasing habits. Information gathering activity and communication process are shaped in parallel with the development of technology. In this article, the internet, which was included in our daily life in the 1990s, has been evaluated with journalism practices as a communication medium on a global scale and in terms of the differences between traditional media and new media. In this context, the study was carried out in three sections. In the first part, the effort to define newspapers and journalism and the historical development process of journalism were discussed. In the second chapter, the new period entered in journalism has been discussed with emerging internet technology and journalism practices like digital journalism. In the third chapter, the differences between traditional journalistic approaches and journalism practices created by new communication technologies based on internet are examined. The new media conception that emerged through the emergence of the Internet on the stage of history brought about the differences in the production of news and the relationship between the journalist and the target audience.
