Abstract
In today's era, environment is being ruined by various types of waste materials. One of these waste materials is agricultural waste like rice husk. The production of rice husk is abundant in the countries like India where agriculture is very common profession, due to this a lot of time rice husk remains unused. Rice husk is produced in millions of tons all around the world, so it was identified by researchers that rice husk can be used as one the replacement of fine aggregates present in concrete as there is dire need in the construction industry to bring the new supplementary materials to improve the strength as well as other properties of concrete. In this paper the effect of addition of Rice husk ash on the compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength is studied. The considered rice husk ash content was in proportion of 5%, 10% as replacement of fine aggregate in the M25 grade of concrete. From the results, it was seen that with the addition of 5% rice husk the compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength increased as the curing age increased from 7 days to 28 days but when proportion of rice husk ash is increased further to 10% the strength parameters decreased drastically as compared to the specimen of 5% rice husk ash.
