Abstract
The urgency of the topic is related to the research of the scientific heritage of M. I. Yasynskyi, one of the founders of bibliological knowledge in Ukraine during the 1920s. In this historical period, science was arranged organizationally as a social institute - the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The scientist has a thorough study of the pre-revolutionary practice of compiling bibliographic works, formulation of a clear scientific definition of the tasks of practical compilation of biobibliographies for the needs of science, comparison of domestic practices and European experience in the theory and practice of biobibliography. The works of the Ukrainian bibliographer Mykhailo Komarov, created on the brink of the modern era of Ukrainian culture development, became the basis for the scholar’s scientific interest in the issues of biography and biobibliography sciences. The first biographical works of the aspiring scientist M. I. Yasynskyi in the provincial press are defined by modern researchers as the establishment of the “life story of colleagues” biographical genre. The scientist has created a holistic scientific concept regarding the main concepts of biography studies in the context of the deployment of Ukrainian humanities in the space of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences such as “personality”, “individual bibliography”, “collective bibliography”, “biobibliography”, “bibliography of ideas” in the writings of a person, “perfect biography”. The main scientific achievements of the theory of biography and biobibliography sciences in the scientific heritage of the scholar are the publications “Individual bibliography” and “Shevchen ko bibliography and its tasks” (1930). Theoretical presentations of M. I. Yasynskyi prove the position of modern bibliography science on the European origins of basic provisions in applied biobibliography science and enrichment of the practice of compiling bibliography of sources on personalities by the methodology of Ukrainian studies.
