The contribution of A. S. Makarenko in the development of penitentiary pedagogy

The relevance of A. S. Makarenko's views is not lost in the modern world: education is an important component of education in the interests of man, society, the state, including in places of deprivation of liberty. One of the directions of improvement of the penal enforcement policy is "search and use of new forms and methods of corrective influence on convicts, organizational mechanisms of social work with convicts, fixing in the penal enforcement legislation of the Russian Federation forms of social, psychological and pedagogical work with convicts as the main means of correction of convicts". For realization of this provision the necessity of studying of A. S. Makarenko's pedagogical system and practical application of its basic ideas and the principles of education is more and more realized.
