The Indian automobile industry is one of the key drivers that increases the economic growth of the country. Since the de-licensing of the sector in 1991 and the ensuing opening up of 100 percent FDI through automatic route, and has came a long way. The industry have produced a total of 23,366,246 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers in April-March 2015 as against 21,500,165 in April-March 2014, registering a growth of 8.68 percent over the same period last year. Sales of Passenger Vehicles grew by 3.90 percent in April-March 2015 over the same period last year. Overall automobile exports grew by 14.89 percent over the same period during 2014-15. Hence an attempt has been made to measures the emerging trends and developments by productions, Sales and exports trends of the Indian Automobile industry by using SWOT analysis.
