Abstract

The article contains information about the books belonging to Petro Kudriavtsev, associate professor of the Department of the History of Philosophy, extraordinary and ordinary professor of the Kyiv Ecclesiastic Academy, its former student. These books were transmitted by him to the academic library, which in 1923 was added to the funds of the National Library of Ukraine. At the present stage, the library of the Kyiv Ecclesiastic Academy is an individual deposit unit of the Department of Librarian Gatherings and Historical collections of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine and numbers about 100,000 books as deposit units. In this vein, studies were carried out to identify books belonging to P. P. Kudriavtsev from the general fund of the academic library, their chronological dates, limited to 17601925, were defined, and linguistic and thematic aspects of the editions were indicated. The investigated literature included the professor’s own works and the books presented to him by famous fi gures from the late nineteenth to the fi rst half of the twentieth century by N. Bracker, F. H. Yanovskyi, V. Ya. Strumynskyi, K. Aheiev, and others. The books on history, philosophy, pedagogy, religion were published in Ukrainian, Russian, German, French and Greek. Particular attention during the work was paid to provenance marks as one of the mains sources for identifying the required documents in the general stock of books, as well as clarifying all the questions regarding their fi rst owners. Almost all the found super-exlibrises and inscriptions were identifi ed and analyzed except for a few that require future research. The texts of the inscriptions in the article are given in original languages and preserve orthographic peculiarities. Bibliographic description of the identifi ed books is given with reference numbers which allow ordering them in the Department of Librarian Gatherings and Historical Collections of VNLU.
