Abstract
In this article a former cataloguer of European Studies at the British Library presents a short history of the creation of the library's electronic catalogue and the recent transition of cataloguers to a new system of cataloguing RDA (Resource Description and Access), and describes the participation of cataloguers of European Studies material in the creation of Authority files for authors from Eastern and Central Europe. The author stresses the importance of international cooperation in enhancing older metadata, speeding the cataloguing process due to derived cataloguing, and the creation of authority files, including those for Ukrainian authors from Ukraine and the diaspora.
