Academician of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences Y. Y. Kosonohov as Remembered by His Colleagues and Students and on Photographs (Based on Documents of the Archival Institute of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine)

This article contains the analysis of a group of documents from a private archival fund of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences Yosyp Yosypovych Kosonohov, which are stored in the Archival Institute of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The documents reviewed in this work include the memories of his students, colleagues and his wife. They shed light on his versatile scientific and educational activities in the field of physics, geophysics, meteorology, medicine, as well as details of the scientist’s life starting from his childhood years. The written sources are accompanied by 50 photographs which illustrate the circumstances of the academician’s life. These documents show that this outstanding scientist directly participated in the establishment of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the work of some higher education institutions in Kyiv, the development of physics etc.
