Globalization has positive and negative sides. The basis of such existing problems as the crisis of the global economy, political conflicts, migrations, and national currency reserves are the processes of globalization. The scientific article discusses the «driving forces» that form and affect globalization in the world. It is noted that in modern conditions of economic development, one of the incentives for long-term growth of the GDP of any state is technological development, which in the conditions of transition to an innovation trajectory of economic development is manifested in innovation activity. Innovation in the form of scientific and technological progress is considered a key factor in the socio-economic development of the state.
