Abstract
The article deals with the problems of contemporary American-Chinese writer Amy Tan in the context of multicultural literature of the United States. The novels The Joy Luck Club, 1989, The Kitchen God's Wife, 1991 reflects the theme of the ecology of the Chinese family in terms of emigration, its fragility and vulnerabil- ity, assimilation of some members with a new culture and the “borderline” state of others
