Abstract
Abstract A 3Hp Kirloskar KDM pump impeller will be studied for its performance and dimensional characteristics. Dimensions of the impeller will be occupied either from reverse engg or by technical data if available. Study of all the forces, constraints and assumptions will be done. Conventional material used for impeller is MS. A 3D model will be prepared on CatiaV5, meshing will be done hypermesh, and Ansys will be used for post processing. Static analysis will be carried out Afterwatching the results for stresses and deformation, optimization process will be assumed. Weight Optimization will be done by replacing MS material into glass epoxy resin material. Glass epoxy resin impeller is expected to have reduced 15% of weight.
