Abstract

Pupose. To identify and analyze the causes of actualizing a social justice problem in the modern Russian society and the ways of its solution. Methodology and methods. The author has analyzed the idea of the Russian people about social justice on the basis of research of sociological poll data. As the main methodological approaches the author uses the theory of pluralistic democracy and the theory of “interested groups”. The secondary analysis of data is an empirical basis for the research. Results. The author has proved the conclusion on definite-historical and conventional character of social justice, about the urgency of public discussions on that issue aimed at the development and preserving of the basic asset consensus. The author has defined inextricable connection between the social justice problem and various types of injustice (economic, legal, and political). The author has shown that a large scale of “political poverty” bring to deformation of public sphere and, as a consequence, to insufficient consideration for other large social groups in decision-making by the government. Scientific novelty. The author has revealed the reasons and consequences of ‘political poverty” in modern Russia as one of the factors actualizing a social justice problem in mass consciousness; he also has substantiated the conclusion on interrelation of the social justice problem and character of relationship between the state and civil society.
