Carcinoma breast with rare sites of metastasis

Abstract

Carcinoma breast commonly metastasizes to lymph nodes, lung, bone, liver, brain but it can occur at any sites. All patients with carcinoma breast treated and on follow up at our institute in between 2008-2010 were analysed, four patients detected to have metastasis involving lacrimal gland, mandible cervix and extradural sites . 44 yrs postmenopausal female came with established diagnosis of Adenocarcinoma of lacrimal gland after proper evaluation she was found have breast lump diagnosed to have breast primary with lacrimal gland metastasis.59 years postmenopausal lady in 2003 diagnosed as carcinoma breast and treated with protocol treatment and on follow up , in 2003 she underwent hysterectomy for dysplastic changes on pap smear, post op HPE revealed infiltrating carcinoma compatible with breast primary and treated accordngly. 46years female diagnosed a case of carcinoma left breast in 2001.treated for same on follow up in 2010 found to have isolated mandibular metastasis, treated with Radiotherapy, followed by chemo.46 years female in 2009 diagnosed to have metastatic breast cancer with bone metastasis treated accordingly and on monthly zometa, June 2010 found to have leptomeningeal metastasis treated with brain radiation. After treatment all are alive and on regular follow up, concluded that patients with carcinoma breast with any symptoms should be evaluated with caution to exclude metastasis.
