Abstract
Ileosigmoid knotting is a rare and life threatening condition that cause closed loop intestinal obstruction. The treatment of ileosigmoid knotting is different from simple volvulus, it has to be intervened immediately. Preoperative radiological investigation and emergency surgery can lead to good outcome. Intraoperative findings of simultaneous ileal and sigmoid ischemia with nonischemic colon interposed in between should indicate ileosigmoid knotting. We report a case of ileosigmoidknottingin a 55 year old male, managed by emergency resection of gangrenous bowel with end ileostomy and end colostomy and later anastomosed.
