Abstract

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour is a rare clinical entity. It comprises around 10 of all soft tissue tumours and 50 of it arise in pre-existing neurofibromatosis. We present this case of 45 year old female without pre-existing neurofibromatosis. The patient presented with a painful mass in the right lower abdomen. Explorative laparotomy revealed the location of the tumour to be the anterior abdominal wall and the definitive diagnosis was made in the postoperative histopathological examination. The patient does not have any recurrence yet and is on regular follow-up. This case is presented for its rarity with respect to its location. This is only the 7th case in the history including overseas reports.
