Abstract
Calcaneal Osteomyelitis is common in bare foot walkers, bedridden patients, patients with in severe Diabetes Mellitus and neuropathy. It is generally treated by Boyd amputation or Syme amputation, even with a viable midfoot and forefoot. Few western studies present less radical surgeries (the partial and total calcanectomies) for eradication of infection and preservation of the functional ambulation. Paradoxically there is no Indian study in this regard. We present a case of an osteomyelitis of calcaneum in a neuropathic foot, which had acceptable result.
