Abstract
Relevance. Ukraine is a large agrarian country with a long tradition of farming. Possessing a third of the world's black soil, it has a high potential for the development of agriculture and holds the lead in the global agricultural markets for the production of grain, sugar, honey and sunflower oil. But in order to meet international and European standards, to have access to the market of second countries, Ukrainian farmers need to have their own storage facilities for storing agricultural products. In the long tradition of such storage for the Ukrainian owners were the cellar. Leafing through the popular science literature we repeatedly meet with serious remarks that in Ukraine, in contrast to European individual-private farms, there are no old cellars in which agricultural products made or grown can be stored. There is a need to track the available and analyze the ancient cellars and basements in the territory of the Dnieper region, to make an attempt to restore such structures. This is the purpose of the article. Analysis of publications. As a rule, sources that talk about the problems of the presence of old cellars for storing agricultural products, relate mainly to winemaking. About cellars for food storage there is almost no literature. Conclusion. Today the cellar is not only a comfortable storage for vegetables, fruits, wine, canned products and other provisions, but also a stylish decoration of the backyard landscape. If you do not have a cellar, you should definitely build it. The cellar increases the autonomy and comfort of your estate, because, unlike the refrigerator, it does not depend on electricity. The construction of the cellar requires less cost of building materials (by about 25%) if it is built in common for two families-neighbors on the border of land plots with separate entrances for each. In addition, this option will allow more efficient use of the land. We have considered far from all types of cellars that people invented for hundreds of years of “underground” food storage and not all the ways of building cellars known to residents of Petrikovsky and Tsarichansky regions of Dnepropetrovsk region. Build a cellar on your own land plot and you will see that the cellar can have different shapes and even with the right design, become an amazing decoration of the plot.
