Abstract
Fibrosarcomas arise from fibroblasts, which are relatively uncommon tumours and account for 12-19 of soft tissue sarcomas. A 45 years old female presented with complaints of swelling in the scalp of six months duration. FNAC from the swelling was reported as Malignant mesenchymal tumour of the scalp. CT-Brain and MRI was done which ruled out any bony infiltration or intracranial extension. Wide local excision of the tumour followed by skin cover was given. Histopathological examination of the specimen showed low grade well-differentiated fibrosarcoma of the scalp with tumour free margins. Primary fibrosarcoma of the scalp is an unusual presentation as the common site of occurrence is usually sino-nasal tract. Treatment of choice is surgical excision followed by radiotherapy if the margins are positive.
