Abstract
Vasfi Mahir Kocatürk, poet, playwright, literary historian, textbook writer, translator and politician, was born in Gümüşhane in 1907 and died in Ankara on 17 July 1961. Vasfi Mahir's book The History of Great Turkish Literature is one of the important works of literary historiography. Other than that, he is the author of more than forty books.. Vasfi Mahir is that he is a member of the Seven Torchbearers (Yedi Meşaleciler) group, which began operating in 1928 in the magazine Servet-i Fünûn. Seven Torchbearers published a book named 'Torch' in 1928. In the same year they released the 8-page Torch (Meşale) magazine. The community members, who worked in literature separately, established Varlık magazine after 1933 and continued to write here. In this study, the activities of Vasfi Mahir in the community have been mentioned. The articles and poems of Vasfi Mahir, Servet-i Fünûn, Meşale magazine and Varlık magazine, in which the group is active, were documented. These letters were evaluated within the general opinions of the Seven Torchbearers community. It is seen that Vasfi Mahir Kocatürk is an important poet and writer from the viewpoint of community
