Abstract
BACKGROUND The overall incidence of ovarian tumour in pregnancy is 2.42 to 5.7. We report a case of mixed malignant germ cell tumour of ovary diagnosed during pregnancy. CASE REPORT A 24 year old G2P1L1 attended out patient department for routine antenatal check up. Diagnosed to have a large adnexal mass along with 20 weeks live fetus in utero. Staging laparotomy and oophorectomy performed. Histopathological report came as mixed germ cell tumour of ovary with dysgerminoma and yolk sac tumour. The patient received three courses of postoperative chemotherapy, in the antenatal period. She delivered a healthy male baby vaginally at term. Conclusion Ultrasound in early pregnancy can make out undiagnosed ovarian tumour. This report describes both surgical and chemotherapeutic treatment of a germ cell malignancy during pregnancy, with delivery at term. To date, major fetal toxicity from chemotherapy has not been identified.
