Abstract

The paper proposes a rotating house model under acting on harmonic and random loads. The house is characterized by the simultaneous appearance of two damping forces, these are “non-viscous and viscous” and Coulomb friction damping forces. This paper has analyzed the behavior of the system by numerical method and Monte Carlo simulation. The effect of Coulomb friction damping parameter on the values of displacement and velocity is thoroughly analyzed and is shown through Bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, Poincaré maps, time histories. From surveying the influence of model parameters on the values of displacement and velocity, this paper can find out the optimal values of the model parameters so that the behavior of the rotating house would against in the best ways during subjected to the horizontal loads.
