Abstract

In this research investigation, the comparison of the compressive strength of concrete between natural coarse aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate (RCA). Separated old concrete waste (the compressive strength of which was known) was used to replace natural aggregate. The replacement was based on the ratio between the rocks and a concrete mix whose compressive strength was at 23.54 Mega-Pascal (MPa) over a period of 28 days. The average for the compressive strength of the settings of four recycles concrete mixes was at 22.81 MPa, 26.38 MPa, 30.27 MPa, and 35.52 MPa, respectively. In comparing the compressive strength of coarse concrete at 28 days, it was found that the compressive strength was greater than that required for being designed. A tendency to increase in the compressive strength of concrete based on age of concrete was the same as for natural coarse concrete, but with a lower average of 18.5%. It was also found that the compressive strength of the concrete composed of recycling concrete waste varied in relation to the compressive strength of the normal concrete
