Abstract
The article is devoted to functioning problems of the olfactorium in novels by I. S. Turgenev. The author draws attention to the way Turgenev creates a kind of "calling card" of the characters by means of the olfactory markers. It helps to see how in the olfactory models of the author the vertical changes, being filled with exclusively Turgenev vision of value of smells and their assessment.
