Analysis to measure citizen participation in urban aestheticization (case study: region 6 of Tehran)

Abstract
Urban projects should propagate sense of beauty and love of nature in addition to functional dimension to satisfy citizens. Satisfaction of society depends on ensuring that all society members feel that they have a role in it and that they are not excluded from the general current of social activities. Participation of citizens in urban management is one of the basic prerequisites for the success and fruition of the efforts of urban management since the ultimate objectives of urban planning will be unachievable without public participation and paying attention to public interests and needs. The quality and quantity of citizen participation depends upon a variety of factors and variables such as social basis, overall activities of municipal managers, and awareness of citizenship. In this context, this paper deals with the study of citizen participation and citizen participation in relation to the factors are to be analyzed in order to improve the urban landscape. The method used in this article is descriptive – analytical method and the information is collected by using questionnaire and collection data were analyzed in SPSS software and by t-test, crosstabs, chi square and Spearman tests. The results showed that citizen participation is undesirable. According to the results, there is a significant relationship between variables of education, gender, occupation, marriage, citizenship awareness and citizenship duties with citizen participation, but there is not a significant relationship between age and participation.
