Abstract
Objective- To evaluate the clinical, laboratory and diagnostic features in women with abdominal tuberculosis that help to discriminate abdominal tuberculosis from advanced ovarian malignancy. Methods- Two case reports of suspected ovarian malignancy that turned out to be abdominal tuberculosis are presented. The literature is reviewed to determine ways to discriminate between the two conditions. Results Abdominal tuberculosis and ovarian malignancy are often confused and unnecessary laparotomies performed. Two cases are described. Conclusion-Diagnostic open laparoscopy is a valuable option when in doubt.
