Abstract
Primary vascular leiomyosarcoma is a rare tumor, which arises mainly from the middle segment of inferior vena cava. They are mostly seen in 6th decade with a female predominance. Diagnosis is often challenging as patients may present with non-specific compliants. Systemic metastasis occurs in the late stage. Imaging with color Doppler ultrasonography, Contrastenhanced computed tomography or Magnetic resonance imaging can significantly contribute to the diagnosis. We present a case of leiomyosarcoma arising from the infra renal segment of inferior vena cava with intraluminal extension and thrombus extending up to the right atrium. We are presenting the CT and MRI findings of IVC leiomyosarcoma to emphasize the significance of the imaging methods in its diagnosis. We have confirmed the diagnosis with the operative findings and biopsy.
