TREATMENT AND OUTCOME OF INVASIVE PAPILLARY CARCINOMA BREAST

Papillary carcinoma of breast is a rare malignant lesion. Pathological diagnosis can be difficult with classical histological examination, identification of myoepithelial cell layer by immunohistochemical method can be useful. In the majority of cases prognosis is excellent. This study report two cases of invasive papillary carcinoma of breast diagnosed by histological and immunohistochemical methods, and is designed to observe the outcome of modified radical mastectomy (MRM) with adjuvant chemotherapy. Two patients aged above 65 yrs presented to us with complaint of lump in the breast. Examination revealed a lump of size 3x3 cm, mobile with no skin or chest wall infiltration, located in the upper outer quadrant in both patients. FNAC showed fibrocystic disease. So trucut biopsy was done which showed invasive papillary carcinoma. MRM was done. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry showed invasive papillary carcinoma. Both patients were followed up for one year with adjuvant chemo therapy with no evidence of recurrence.
