Abstract
Takayasu's arteritis is a relatively rare inflammatory arteritis that can be associated with ocular manifestation. It can present as proliferative retinopathy due to ocular ischemia and anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. The ischemic manifestations are result of hypoperfusion of ocular structures due to occlusive arteritis of aortic arch and its branches. We here report a 24 year old female who presented with complaints of diminution of vision in both eyes and syncopal attacks. On ocular examination she was found to have proliferative retinopathy due to ocular ischemia in both eyes. She was later diagnosed as having Takayasu's arteritis. With early diagnosis and prompt treatment with pan retinal photocoagulation new vessels had regressed and visual acuity is maintained.
