Abstract
The article presents scheme, technique and experimental investigation results of the features of changes in the form of water droplets at their movement through the gas area. The modern high-speed registration equipment is used for the experimental researches. It is established that the measurement errors of liquid droplet sizes are no more than 5 %, times — 4 %, movement rates — 2 %. Two characteristic “deformation mode” of water droplets at movement through the gas area were identified. Ranges of limit changes of the droplet sizes from spherical form at its movement with moderate rates are established. Asymmetry of transition times between the characteristic forms of a droplet within a “deformation cycle” is shown. It is established that with growth of droplets movement rates the characteristic times of “deformation cycles” decrease. Times of “deformation cycles” increase with growth of the initial droplet sizes. A good agreement of the received results to earlier known data is obtained. It is shown that when carrying out numerical researches of the described processes it is expedient to consider continuous change of a droplet form (resistance coefficient) in the course of movement.
