Abstract
Macular hole caused by blunt trauma to the eye though can cause permanent loss of vision which has greater impact if it happens in young male. We report a case of spontaneous closure of traumatic macular hole in a young male documented by time domain OCT with marginal visual recovery. A 20 year old student with tennis ball injury to his left eye presented with traumatic hyphema, vitreous hemorrhage with full thickness traumatic macular hole. Time domain OCT showed full thickness macular hole. In regard to poor surgical outcome in traumatic macular hole and control of inflammation, patient was managed conservatively on topical anti-inflammatory and topical cycloplegics. On follow up in less than 3 weeks of trauma there was spontaneous closure of macular hole with fibrous tissue. OCT on 20th day of trauma confirmed clinical findings. Patient was told about his guarded visual prognosis after which he was lost to follow up.
