THE PROBLEM OF INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY IN THE CONTEXT OF RELATIONS BETWEEN THE STATE AND THE CHURCH

The article considers various aspects of the relationship between church and state, as well as the prob- lem of individual liberty in the context of these relationships, on the example of an analysis of Western philo- sophical tradition. The author concludes that the realization of the individual liberty is possible only if the func- tions of Church and State are delimitated. It is necessary to distinguish between social and spiritual liberty; the latter is more important than the former
