STUDENTS STUDIES AT HNB GARHWAL UNIVERSITY SRINAGAR GARHWAL UNIVERSITY ATTITUDES TOWARDS STUDENTS UNION ELECTION

At present, the democratic system is being seen as a popular and best kind of governance system all over the world, as well as the basis of democracy is ensures the active participation of the people where the citizens get the chance to choose their government. Democracy is considered to be educated, active and aware citizens. If this thing is understood as a youth power, its importance more increased because the young generation of ones nation directs effect on the development. The present study was carried out mainly to find out college youth attitude towards student?s union election at HNBGU. The study was conducted mainly youth of HNBG University who is studies in HNBGU Srinagar Garhwal. Descriptive survey method used for the present study and 300 students selected randomly from different departments of HNBG University Srinagar Garhwal. Data was collected through self constructed Attitudes of student?s union election questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages, and standard deviation plus the independent t-test analysis. Results indicated that Variables like: gender, locality and education status significantly affect the attitudes of students towards students union election and male students more positive attitude for students union elections rather than female students. 70 % students accepted needs to students union in campus for the making identity card, improvement in mark sheet, hostels arrangements and other problems of students to that it could be presented in the university administration
