Abstract
Malrotation of gut is common in paediatric age group but rare in adulthood. Intestinal obstruction is common in adults, but caecal volvulus is uncommon which is characterized by twisting of caecum, distal ileum and ascending colon. The incidence of caecal volvulus is reported to range from 2.8 to 7.1 per million peopleyear. We present a case of 35 years female who was complaining of abdominal pain, abdominal distension and vomiting. We diagnosed as intestinal obstruction due to caecal volvulus and managed by emergency laparotomy, volvulus released, caecostomy and caecopexy done on right side and extraperitonisation of sigmoid colon done on left side, we managed successfully without need of bowel resection.
