Abstract
Background. Studying the morphological features of peritumorous tissue and the possibility of their use for the diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is of undoubted interest.Objective. To determine the immunohistochemical markers of high diagnostic significance for the detection of PTC. Material and methods. An immunohistochemical study was performed on serial paraffin sections using monoclonal antibodies to CD3, CD4, CD8, CD23, CD25, CD1α and TGF-β antigens. Conclusions. The study showed significantly higher CD1α expression in PTC and peritumorous tissue compared with non-tumor nodules, lower TGFβ expression in peritumorous tissue and a higher percentage of TGFβ levels in cancer relative to the surrounding tissues. A negative dependence of CD1α level on TGFβ level in tumor nodules was revealed. To diagnose PTC, it is necessary to determine the level of CD1α in the nodule as well as the levels of TGFβ in the nodule and in the surrounding tissue and to calculate the discriminant equation.
