Abstract

Introduction. The paper presents the results of screening surveys, as well as the data of a comprehensive hygienic assessment of the daily routine of schoolchildren using time sheets. Aim. Identification of early complaints of schoolchildren on the basis of their subjective sensations; hygienic assessment of the daily routine. Materials and Methods. The study involved 134 schoolchildren in grades 7-8 of secondary schools. Teenagers were offered 30 questions of a unified questionnaire, divided into 7 groups investigating the state of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary systems, allergic status and psychological satisfaction. Results. The maximum amount of complaints were noted on the part of the nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract. The third most common group of complaints came from the respiratory system. Almost half of schoolchildren complained of allergic manifestations and of disorders of the cardiovascular system. The minimum number of complaints concerned the urinary system. Schoolchildren were least satisfied with nutrition at school and with their success in studying. Almost all schoolchildren were completely satisfied with their parents, friends, peers, living conditions. School workload was within the norm, but self-study at home took more time than the recommended weekly duration. Classes in groups of interests and stay out-of-doors took 2 times less duration than was provided by hygienic recommendations. Rest took much more time due to watching TV, computer games. 3 Times less the recommended time was spent on reading books. Reduction of duration of sleep was also noted. Conclusion. Almost all children have poor health parameters, primarily of the neurological character. Improper alternation of various activities, reduction of duration of nocturnal sleep, as well as a short stay in the open air lead to a rapid depletion of a childs nervous system. In order to improve the state of health, it is necessary to follow scientifically based hygienic recommendations on the organization of the vital activity of adolescents.
