Abstract
Knowledge sharing process in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) in Malaysia has three main factors involved; organizational factor, technological factor and individual factor. Much have been discussed on knowledge sharing at large but less have been mentioned on knowledge sharing between academicians from the field of engineering and arts. The purpose of this study is to identify the comparison between engineering and arts academicians on three knowledge sharing factors; organizational factor, technological factor and individual factor. This study is conducted through a set of survey instrument among academicians in a selected HLI in Malaysia. The findings of this study show that academicians from both engineering and arts collectively agree that organizational factors on knowledge sharing, from the top management support and organizational culture are important as well as trust, knowledge self-efficacy and reciprocal renefit under individual factors. However, organizational rewards and system quality are slightly regarded as less important from both groups of academicians. Despite the strength in the knowledge sharing factors, efforts in improving factors that are regarded as slightly important must be made by Malaysian HLI to enhance knowledge sharing among academicians.
