Abstract
The analysis of the Persian and Greek borrowings of one of the minority languages of the North Caucasus is carried out. The lexical-thematic classification of the Persian borrowings established in the AbazinRussian dictionary, revealed 22 words of different spheres of life, and the major part of them ? is in names of plants, fruits and vegetables. Having considered borrowings from Greek into Abazin, it is possible to draw the conclusion that 98 words of the Greek borrowings are stated in the Abazin-Russian dictionary [1], the major part of them is found in the following spheres of life: literary criticism and linguistics, political public sphere, names of sciences. The ways of emerging the Greek borrowings into the Abazin language are also determined: a) face-to-face communication of the Abazins with Greeks during their living at the territory of the Caucasus; b) acquisition by the Abazin people of the separate Greek feudal institutions and their terminologies.
