Abstract
Gandhakapushpa is a folklore herbomineral compound prepared from Gandhaka (sulphur) and Eranda taila (castor oil). This preparation is used in the management of raktadusthi (vitiation of blood), vrana (wound healer) and in kustha (skin disorders). In this study stage wise chemical analysis of gandhakapushpa (herbomineral compound) preparation was carried out. This was done to find out an answer for what makes the gandhakapushpa the spongy appearance as that of an inner structure of toddy tree leaf. The sulphur content increased after shodhana (purification) of gandhaka (sulphur). The murchanasamskara (processing of oil) done on eranda taila (castor oil) increased its potency.
