Evaluation of Social Studies Curriculum in the Context of Learning Area-Skill Relationship

Abstract
Since social studies course aims to raise active citizens, it is necessary to include various skills in the curriculum. There are 27 skills in the social studies curriculum. These skills in the program not only contribute to the academic aspect of the students, but also enable them to acquire some qualifications for life. These skills are included in 7 learning areas. In this respect, the aim of the research is to evaluate the distribution of the skills in the social studies curriculum in the curriculum and learning area. In this context, qualitative model was used in the research. The relationship between learning area and skills distribution of the social studies curriculum was analyzed by using document analysis method. In this esearch, social studies course curriculum (4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades) were examined. Descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the research data. As a result, it was found that there is no equal distribution of skills in Grade 4, Grade 6, and Grade 7 learning areas.
